Asclera®
What Is Asclera®?
Asclera® (polidocanol injection) is an FDA-approved prescription treatment for spider veins (tiny red, blue, or purple veins) and small varicose veins (1–3 mm in diameter). It works through a process called sclerotherapy, where the medication is injected directly into the affected vein, causing it to collapse and eventually fade as the body naturally absorbs it.
Benefits of Asclera® Vein Treatment
-
Clearer, smoother skin – visibly reduces or eliminates spider and reticular veins.
-
Minimally invasive – performed with tiny injections, no surgery required.
-
Quick treatment – sessions usually take 15–45 minutes, depending on the number of veins treated.
-
Little to no downtime – most patients return to normal activities immediately.
-
Long-lasting results – treated veins typically don’t return, though new ones may form over time.
-
Safe and well-studied – FDA-approved and widely used worldwide.
Who Is a Candidate?
Asclera® is ideal for men and women who want to reduce the appearance of spider veins and small varicose veins for cosmetic or comfort reasons. A consultation is necessary to ensure candidacy and rule out underlying venous disease.
What to Expect During Treatment
-
A small amount of Asclera® is injected into the targeted vein.
-
The solution irritates the vein lining, causing it to collapse and seal shut.
-
Over the following weeks, the body naturally reabsorbs the treated vein, and the appearance fades.
-
Most patients need 1–3 sessions per area for best results.
Recovery & Aftercare
-
Compression stockings may be recommended for a short time.
-
Avoid prolonged sun exposure, saunas, or hot tubs for a few days.
-
Light walking is encouraged, but strenuous exercise should be avoided for 2–3 days.
